They will survey the crime scene for dangerous persons and take control of the situation. It will constantly notify all supervisory personnel and call for assistance/backup when needed. Police officers also should make sure that medical attention will be provided to any injured people, and minimize the contamination of the Hazmat Cleanup. The responding officer(s) should assess the victim(s) for signs of life and their medical needs and also provide any immediate medical attention.
  4. The police officer will call for the appropriate medical personnel. They will guide the medical technicians to the victim to lessen any contamination or alteration of the crime scene. The officers will point out any potential physical evidence to the medical personnel, and will instruct them to lessen any contact with such evidence, to make sure that medical technicians preserve all clothing and personal belongings without cutting through bullet holes or knife tears. They will need to document movement of persons or any items by medical technicians.
